As a Registered Nurse (RN), in our ED, you will be an important part of a team and help support our 30-bed unit for a mixed patient population like Trauma - we are a level II Trauma Center, Neuro, STEMIs, Ortho, Sepsis, Geriatric, and some Behavioral Health. You will provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the hospital. While providing clinical and administrative support on the unit, you will work closely with the clinical team to create and implement a care plan that meets each patients needs. As an RN in our ED, you need to be organized as you will often care for a number of patients at the same time. You will observe and record patient behavior.

Your primary function in this role is to instruct and educate patients and their family members.
As a member of our ED you will administer all prescribed medications utilizing the 5 rights to medication administration, change dressings, clean wounds, and monitor vital signs as per protocols.
Our nursing team monitors, records, and communicates patient conditions as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
You will serve as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care, including patients discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team and patients family as needed.
You will be able to interact and communicate well with patients, coworkers, and doctors and be considerate, sympathetic, non-judgmental comforting to our patients and their family.

What qualifications you will need:

Required: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
Required: Licensed in the State of Virginia as a registered nurse or has compact license.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date
Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date
