Job Summary and Qualifications

The technologist performs CT procedures with guidelines established by this institution, the equipment manufacturer and/or radiation safety guidelines established by the Texas Department of Health. Operates CT scanner or diagnostic equipment, utilizes PACS, instructs patients, prepares room, equipment, supplies and medications. Employee will be responsible for knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psychological, educational, safety and related criteria for the neonate, infant child, adolescent, adult and geriatric population.

What you will do in this role:

  • Supports the philosophy of Kingwood Medical Center by facilitating cooperation of hospital staff in a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
  • Consistently provides outstanding service to all patients, physicians, fellow employees, and guests.

What qualifications you will need:
  • One to two years in diagnostic radiology or equivalent, an additional one to two years' experience in CT scan
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist
  • Registered Radiographer (ARRT)
  • Computerized Tomography (CT) must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date

Job Summary and Qualifications

The CT Scan Technologist will maintain technical skills needed to perform CT procedures. Responsible for the use of equipment to minimize hazards and maximize patient safety. Duties include proper operation of all equipment, digital image management, preparing room for use.   • Demonstrates competency in all areas of computerized tomography, positioning, procedure preparation, and technical factors associated with the CT Systems. Will display knowledge in the use of all other equipment used in CT Scan. Performs examinations according to protocol, radiologist preference and ACR guidelines.
  • Consistently consents patients for metals and contrast and obtains necessary surgical history of patients prior to exam.
  • Documents in information systems upon completion of procedures; always documents all STAT reads according to departmental policies.
  • Maintains cleanliness and inventory of the lab to include equipment and facilities. Will follow proper disinfection techniques, restocks supplies as necessary, carts or work area will be cleaned and stocked at the completion of each shift. Supplies area with items necessary for daily schedule; advises supervisor of any items are needed.
  • Follows ACR QC requirements according to guidelines and internal policies.

Our Care teams include physicians, nurses, therapists, hospice aides and social workers. Job Summary and Qualifications

As an MRI Technologist, you will perform MRI scans and take radiographs according to the standards and practices set forth by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Performs Magnetic Resonance procedures to demonstrate cross-sectional anatomical images for interpretation by or at the request of a licensed practitioner. Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure.

  • You will prepare patients for procedures; providing instructions in order to obtain desired results, gain cooperation and minimize anxiety
  • You will complete required documentation on forms, logs, work station and Meditech
  • You will administer contrast using proper technique
  • You will produce scans of optimal diagnostic quality on patients
  • You will label images and identify according to protocol
  • You will communicate pertinent information to interpreting radiologist in a timely manner

Job Requirements

Experience

  • One - two years' experience as an MRI Technologist - preferred

Education

  • Graduate of an educational program in radiology or MRI accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) OR graduate of an American Medical Association approved program in Radiologic Technology or MRI OR an American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMIT) degree program OR military training program of equivalent standards

Licenses and Certifications

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification per St. David's Healthcare policy
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (ARRT (MR)) within 6 months of hire OR certification through the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT)
  • Current Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) certification with Texas Medical Board (TMB) - preferred

Job Summary of the Radiology Technologist

Appropriately utilizes x-ray to assist in diagnosis and/or treatment while always adhering to state, regulatory, and Radiation Right guidelines. Performs radiographic procedures and related techniques, producing images for the interpretation by: or at the request of a licensed practitioner. Exercises professional judgement in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. This position works closely with other healthcare team members to facilitate exceptional patient care and efficient completion of diagnostic studies while also promoting optimal unit operations. The radiologic technologist adheres to the ICARE customer service standards while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Responsibilities of the Radiology Technologist
  • Perform all diagnostic radiographic procedures and demonstrate technique to produce optimal study.
  • Correctly use all equipment in clinical area, including but not limited to: fluoroscopy, c-arm, tomo, and portable units.
  • Interpret physician orders prior to performing exam to ensure optimal study Practice safe radiation protection following hospital guidelines.
  • Assist physicians and radiologists in procedures requiring sterile technique.
  • Prepare and administer radiopaque contrast media needed for radiologic exams.
  • Assess patient's condition prior and during all radiologic procedures.
  • Provide optimum patient care during exams.
  • Corroborate patient's clinical history with procedure, assuring information is documented and available for use by licensed practitioner.
  • Perform other department related duties as needed.
  • Perform minor equipment repairs and upkeep and communicate problems to supervisor or communication log.
Qualifications of the Radiology Technologist

EDUCATION:

  • Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology
  • Graduation of an America Medical Association- approved program in Radiologic Technology

EXPERIENCE:

  • Entry-level graduate Radiologic technologist will be accepted depending shift and technical responsibility of the shift
  • Preferred: Two years in an acute care setting as an X-ray Technologist

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Licensed by Texas Department of State Health Services as a Medical Radiologic Technologist
  • Registered in Radiology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - ARRT (R)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
